I don't like to compare, but a ballroom man is so much better than guys from other dances. A ballroom man invites girls in a proper way, dances gently with a tender hold but sets the girl in his arm with a firm frame. A ballroom man knows how to lead and gives a definite lead so that the girl is led in a comfortable way.
Ballroom men know leading is the key to a good dance so they work hard to learn leading until they can truly lead; they know basic is technique and all advanced variation will not work if the fundamentals are not solid enough so they work on the skills until complete understanding is acquired instead of doing tons of advanced variations uglily; they know originals are precious but short lived so they diligently work to give the dances a greater dimension frequently; they are confident for they know they know dancing very well but at the same time very humble for they know it could take a life's time to build their fame but loss of repetition can happen overnight.
Ballroom men do not necessarily dance professionally, and they in general love dancing as a decent social fun so they respect the ladies as much as they respect a real friend. Therefore, affection between couples and appreciation among dancers fill our atmosphere while harrassment is rare.
The more advanced I am, the more I know about the quality of a dance; the more I know, the more good qualities I find in ballroom men. Recently I was assigned to pair with Kenny, everything I have learnt from him, both on and off the floor, has inspired me so much. And I can't stop comparing him with that Salsa man, whom I met in the previous trip... Man, ballroom man is just much better.
Ballroom men's 'properties' do not only apply to those top dancers, but also be found in all 'true' participants. Yes, there are lots of men dancing ballroom but not all of them are real ballroom men. More often we find men who just want to touch girls. Well, they are not defined as 'ballroom men' in my dictionary.
