Fitness dance, or
Aerobic Dance, seems to be a long forgotten term, since there are so
many Dance Workout programs keep emerging. Those were the days when
we heard ladies calling out 'one more, two more, three more...' and
kept hopping. My interest about Fitness Dance embarked when my mom
signed herself in for such a class. A fitness dance is a dance, and
since I am a dance instructor, a kick-boxercise trainer and a
personal fitness trainer, I started to get interested in whether I
could merge my skills into something. Of course, the answer is yes
and that's why I have Latin Fitness classes today.
At the time when I
started researching it, I have found that Latin Fitness Dance classes
all focused on fat burning, which means they stressed on the moves
that pump your heartbeat, I got puzzled as fast beat is not all I had
been taught in Latin Dancing. I got puzzled until I finally landed
onto the HKBDC, the issuing organization of my Dance Teaching
Certificates I got the answer.
Latin Fitness Dance is
defined as a Fitness Dance incorporating Latin Dances is supposed ro
dance to music with various tempos. It means that a Latin Fitness
Dance which focus on Jive is danced to a faster music with more
hopping and thus burn a lot of fat; but one with a focus on Rumba
should go with slower music and do more stretching and thus a good
toning exercise.
Through some more
reading and discussing with my instructors, I gradually developed my
own Latin Fitness Dance program. Let's have a look at it below.
