Dances' history intertwined (part 2)- Dances Socialization

Red: Ballroom & Latin; Purple: Jazz; Green: Folk
From part 1, you see four main categories: Ballroom & Latin, Ballet, Jazz and Folk. Among these three main groups, there is also a similarity- three out of four are primarily for social.
  1. Ballroom, let's put aside the International Style or American Style, or which dance(s) was/were used to be included or whatsoever, Ballroom, originally was functioned as a kind of social dance for high socioeconomic class.
  2. Jazz, both primarily and existingly, appeared as a confusion of everything was a dance for new migrants to join and entertain themselves.
  3. Folk, goes with its name, was a pastime for ordinary people at their spare time.

Since they were all social dances, once appeared on the social dance floor, a floor for royals & nobles or for the ordinary people, they spread- flew from upper class to lower class, or from lower to upper class. The mobility went together with the dances' popularity. If the nobles like them, that would already be a reason for the normal people to mimic them and give a 'street' version of it.

On the contrary, a dance which made a craze across the country left no way for some elite people to intentionally resist it; thus they gave the 'indecent' dance a 'decent' manner which made it dance-able among the wealthy ones.

As a consequence, we found that different social dances actually have bits of similarities. The above figure shows you exactly how the three types of dances had been influencing one another through centuries.
