This blog entry is written specifically for the ISTD Associate Examination for Country Western Line Dances.
In Part Two of the Exam, what is being tested is Explanation of Dances and Teaching Techniques.
Be prepared to call in full or call briefly with hints, any of the listed dances as requested by the Examiner.
This is why we fill in a dance of "own choice". The dance of Own Choice is chosen among the 46 listed dances. The candidate will be asked to dance this dance of own choice.
To do this, the candidate needs to at the same time call it. To call it, we can call in beats and bars, or actions or figures, or any calling that would be easily understood by students.
For example, if my own choice is Smokey Places, I may call it like this:
Rumba Box, & hold
Rumba Box, & hold
Go to side, &hold
Cross back, side, Cross front, Tap,
Cross, tap, step, tap,
Turn around & Tap,
