To earn a living by dancing...

If you want to earn a living by dancing, you need to be a good dancer, a dance instructor, and a choreographer

Dance is a performance art form, it is a combination of various steps and movements set to music, either improvised or planned.

The individual's dance-ability of course heavily influences the quality of a dance, Thus you need a good instructor. A dance instructor is a person who focuses on teaching dance techniques and figures. Usually the figures are taught seperately and then are organised into short routines. By practicing these, one can gradually build up muscle memory which enables novice dancer to dance on the floor.

For social dancers, such would be enough for them to enjoy the dance floor. However this is far from okay for performers. Performance dancers emphasis more on the 'watchability' so they won't underestimate the impact of choreography and music on a piece of dance performance. A dance choreography needs to respond to the music and uses different group structures to illustrate the scene expressed by the verses.

A choreographer may not be an expert in teaching dancing, but must be an expert in dancing (performing and expressing the dance) and writing dancing (able to tailor-made a muscial dance according to the dancers ability and the performance purpose).

Alright now we all know the difference between a dance, an instructor and a choreographer, but how earning money is related?

Oh, it is because we always receives enquiries from beginners who want to learn (at least a watchable) dance that can be performed and earn a big cĺap... Imagine, to serve such a client, we ourselves need to know dancing well; plus an ability to teach the two-left-feet to dance; and of course we need to write a performance that can present and flaunt the novices well.

All in all, lacking any of the qualities would discourage clients who are keen and eager but without talents.
