The Romance of Ballroom Dancing

It is true that mostly we keep a grand frame that couples are restricted to looking at each other, it does not mean that the dances are stiff and not romantic. The romance of Ballroom Standard can be revealed in some other ways.

First thing first, I personally think that the grand hold is the most romantic element in all kind of dancing. There are a lot of people mistaken it as a cold gesture and think the couple is not connected at all because they are not even looking at each other. However I believe the opposite is truer, that the couple is intimately connected that no other social dances can do. It is because of the sense of belonging comes from the very unique leading and following technique in ballroom dancing- it is only when you are feeling completely secured and both are mutually trusted that said one can naturally lead and follow.

We know that Standard Dancing is an archaic form of dancing, yes, it has a long history, and this long history has been shaping its presentation form. Dances that were developed and shaped in Puritanical influence restricted couples from completely attaching to each other, instead, it demanded the leader to lead through numerous subtle signals, and it also demanded the follower to follower by highly alerted themselves to the subtle leading gesture through their senses. It is much more spiritual and emotional than any other type of social dancing, and it is what makes Ballroom Standard Dances the most romantic dance of all.
