The New York on the Notes

No matter in Rumba or in Cha Cha Cha, New York is very characteristic.

But on the study notes, the New York is not New York, it is New York to Left Side Position or New York to Right Side Position.

Most people, at their beginner class, entre New York from a face to face position, but for candidates who are going to take exams, better to name the position and hold.

New York to LSP is commenced in open CPP, L to R hand hold.

New York to RSP is commenced in open PP, Rbti L hand hold.

Quite surprised, right?

Its quite different from what we are taught, usually we start with double hand hold, or normal closed hold.

Um, so we know that in actual dancing we need to adjust and modify in order to fit the preceding and the following figees. And that's also why we need to study if we want to pass the exam.

If we just answer according to how we were taught in a normal interest class, we can expect the result would be far from getting pass.

Another point to note regarding New York, is the amount of turn.

Competition dancers usually over-turn when dancing the New York, but on the notes, it is 1/8 + 3/8, a total of quarter turn.

In the New York to LSP, we need to change position from Open CPP to LSP, that is 1/8 to R. From LSP to Open PP, it takes 3/8 L.

Reached Open PP, and we reached the starting position for New York to RSP.

To dance the New York to RSL, we jst need to perform what we do for NY to LSP with opposite direction and oppositie feet.
