Some fugures consist of 'part weight' steps.
The step with part weight can only go with BF, we in general tend to place weight on the inside part of the foot. After the part weight step, a flat step is more likely to be taken.
It is in fact a natural result of weight distribution.
If not stated, we usually place weight on only one foot. Latin dancing place a very heavy emphasis on weight distribution, and this is exactly how I misunderstand the Cucarachas and the Cuban Rock!
I used to these two figures with heels off the floor on the second step! Because I thought I had to put all weight on the foot I was stepping on!
Anyway, the correct way to dance the Cucarachas is to place part weight on the first step, before full weight can be placed the weight is already replaced onto the third step.
As for the Cuban Rock, it is flat on each step, i.e. Cuban Rock is the weght change with feet in place.
OMG, it was hard to unlearn the muscle memory of the wrongs!
