Every one knows how to walk, however, as said before the way of walking on dancing is not same as the way you walk on the street.
In Latin dancing, most of the time we use the TH footwork (you can check from the syllabus).
- We stay in the in the home position keeping toes turned out, up all weight on only one foot.
- Lift up the heel of the unweighted foot, and mind the even you are weighted on one foot, the toes are still turned out.
- Then swing the foot forward from the hip, move the foot forward. Hip action is not intended here but if the step is proprtly executed, the hip swings towards the front, which is the correct resulted hip movement.
- Let the inside edge of the foot stay in touch with the floor while you are moving forward.
- The moving foot should land in line with supporting foot so as to create the CBMP. Toes keep turned out all time.
- The step being made should not be too big, or you will destroy the hip movement that you should have made during the walk.
- Land with the inside edge of the toe, then inside edge of the ball, and finally the whole foot.
- Transfer all weight to the landed foot.
- Stretch the nack foot, turn out the toes of the back foot and at the same time lift up the heel so that only the inside edge of the big toe touches the floor.
- Repeat from step 3.
- Remember the body separation so that the upper body and the lower body are always in the CBM.
