As stated in title, when if comes to Wedding dance, I prefer ballroom dancing.
Many couples come as complete beginners with absolutely no dance experience at all, but still wedding couples would like to have a nice, spectacular dance in their big day! Ummm, which is understandable.
Frankly speaking, classic is classic, and the classics survive for centuries really get a reason. Among all those five dances, Waltz and Foxtrot are good for wedding, Waltz in particular is best for those who have less experience.
Basic Waltz is easy to learn, though beautiful Waltz is not that easy to manage. Elegant Waltz takes CBM, posture, rhythm... These won't be possible for beginner couples, however, even these are absent, with fascinating dress and a reasonable posture, the dance itself would just look good.
It's an illusion. Yes, everyone knows that's an illusion.
Imagine, a couple, who doesn't dance well, dances a Salsa or a Rumba in elegant gown... Can you imagine? With no Cuban hip actions, and messy footwork, the whole picture is awkward! But imagine the same couple in the same dress takes the basic Box steps and moves across the floor, even the steps are not smooth the dance itself won't look bad.
Latin dances are spot dances which are danced in the inner circle, Smooth are progressing dances which are danced in the outer circle, so that the couple can move along the LOD. As long as the couple keeps moving non-stop, the imperfect dance just looks good enough. On the other hand, the spot dances, though can be danced along the LOD, are basically non-moving dances.
If you have a grand hall for your wedding, it doesn't look good to dance on the spot but just change the walls. On the contrary, the couple moves around the hall looks much better.
Some couples like to have contemporary or other funky styles. It would be good fun having such. funky is not highly technical and is relatively simple, it looks fine as long as the partners remember all moves.
However, the contemporary... is the one that I really not recommend for beginners. It is an amazing dance that is wonderful to watch, however it itself is a highly technical dance that is quite demanding for complete beginners. Simply put, it takes time to look good enough.
If a couple has little experience, has a tight schedule to learn, has no time to practice, but still wants to look good, really, ballroom Waltz is a your choice.
