I agree that if they can do all these then the dance will be very nice.
However, there is a presumption - they can dance!
A lot of beginner couples are very ambitious, in fact, from my point of view, way too ambitious.
But how is this ambition developed?
I usually get the chosen track before the first class, so that I can write the choreography in advance. And then during the first meeting I can demonstrate and see if the couples like it.
And then everything starts from this demo.
I, as the lead, lead the fiancé (usually the lady), and can just do the dance. The fiancé feels that she follows smoothly, and this gives the husband an illusion that the dance is not hard to learn that even a complete beginner can do.
However, there is one blind point. With an experienced dancer’s lead, inexperienced ones can also follows well, this is because he can lead- so you know leading skill is a good thing.
And here comes a problem, most wedding couples come as beginners, hoping to learn a spectacular dance within a relatively short time.
How short is this short time?
Usually 4 hours to 6 hours.
This short time is possible for the learning of a 2-3 minutes routine, but way too short to learn and develop the leading skills.
Aiya what I want to say is, if time is limited, one should expect a watchable dance instead of a spectacular dance… 😉
