How can you dance

Just as many many other people do, I love dancing.

I like to study the syllabus figures so that I can practice until i am perfect.

I also like to break the figures and re-organisd them, then put together some actions I found from different sources, so as to create my own combinations.

I believe most dance teachers do this break-organise-combine as their daily assignment.

You may feel it is ridiculous. Everyone only gets a body and two feet, what a person can do is to step forward, backward, left side and right side, maybe also diagonally forward or backward, taking all these directions together and we have 8 alignments.

That means there are eight different directions we can go to.

Then, what else?

Surely, dancing won't be as simple as stepping towards which way.

In fact, there are not only 8 directions, if you study the syllabus thoroughly, there are alao side and slightly back, or, side and slightly forward, or ...

On the other hand, we do not only have 'step' on dancing.

The locomotor movement (any movement that travels through space) we can do include run, jump, walk, slide, hop, skip, somersault, leap, crawl, gallop, and roll.

The non-locomotor (any movement that occurs in one spot) include a bend, stretch, swing, rise, fall, shake, turn, rock, tip, suspend, and twist.

In addition, we have an option to do ariel (lifts and carries), or to pause (stillness) according to the flow of music.

So you see, we have several alignments and many actions, if we incorporate the timing of 'S', 'Q', and 'a', and polish up with arm styling, can you imagine how many ways that a person can move?
