Styling, not to learn it, but to perfect it.

Last month, someone asked me whether I would hold styling workshops.

He said 'a lot of people are dancing, but not every one can dance beautifully', he used my word- 'beautifully'. This is what I keep emphasizing when I explain things. I also want these 'dancers' to dance better but I don't think this is a good idea for them. Even though they really enroll, and do attend the workshop, I do not believe many of them will turn out dancing much nicer than they are now.

Styling, to me, has been natural. If you want to dance nicely, you need to dance correctly. To dance correctly means to move your body in a harmonious way. If you can move like flowing freely on the floor, and you can feel like you have a texture finer than the finest silk, then you probably can do styling in whatever way you want. I see no need to learn- because I didn't learn to style; arm and leg extension comes naturally when the move is correct, but of course, moving correctly needs practices, and diligence is the key to success.

And you know, this is why I think the workshop idea won't work. Hard work means to practice over and over again in the light preferably in front of the wall mirrors so that you can examine the bad of your work and correct it until you are perfect. Most people here come for social dancing, means, socializing themselves not improving dancing technique. Hard work seems not suitable for people who only want to enjoy time in the dark, with a drink, mostly alcohol.

Yes, every one knows if you want polishing, the best and the only way is to really work on technique. But I am also okay if they just want to dance the average dance. I myself didn't want to be a top dancer, my person motto has always been 'whatever what, stay beautiful!'. Even there's no competitions, no performances, no medal tests, no associate course, I will still practice everything. And I just don't think these people buy this- after a hard day's work, who still wants to practice hard?

This would be a good idea, but this wouldn't make a good business. This was what I told him.
