Upon an enquiry of a dance...

As a dance teacher, there has been a down time during the COVID19, but things seem to be getting better now.

Busines starts to grow and new requests keep coming. However, some enquiries are about the dances I don't really know. A few days ago, I got an enquiry asking if I can teach Cumbia.

Looking at the 2020-2021 balance, you can't imagine how I hope to say yes. I am just eager to fill that big gap up. Yet, I have to honestly tell them that I don't have relevant teaching certificate.

I know may dance teachers do not have qualifications, but that doesn't mean that they are not good at dancing, nor they don't teach well. A certificate is a piece of paper, in the world of dancing, experience is more important. This is a general fact I know.

Talking back to the Cumbia request. I did some research few years ago. In my opinion, I think it is a dance very very similar to Samba-Salsa mix. Not very hard to dance to if partnering up with an experienced partner. I wouldn't say I couldn't dance this dance, but to teach? Maybe not.

In the end I could only offer a Samba-Salsa fusion instead of simply saying yes to Cumbia.
