For some reasons, these days I need to study the folk dance of Greek.
To study, I didn't mean to learn to dance it myself, I just have to learn the history of a few major dances. After a quick Google, I chose Syrtaki, Hasapiko, Kalamatianos, Pentozali, Tsamilko, Ikariotikos, and Zeibekiko.
Here in my blog I am not going to talk about those 7 dances, not at all. I just feel the revolutionary history of dances in different countries is quite similar. Not only the development history, the major characteristics of different dances are surprisingly similar.
I think I said this before, but every time I study the dance history, I still feel that it's an amazing coincidence.
In fact, I didn't attempted to read about Greek dances, but the Egyptian dances, especially Belly dancing.
Then I learned about the relationship among the Belly dance, Flamingo dance and Gypsy dance.
While I was studying about the origin of the Belly dance, I also have a rough look at the Egyptian history, then inevitably read about the Greek and Rome.
And in the end, I read about the above mentioned dances.
I would not write about the dances here as those are my work- I just can't post my work on my personal blog.
Anyway, the project was done in Autumn, and I just can't help posting a comment: I feel like all dances come from the same origin.
