Getting to know the Line Dancing Actions and Steps (part 5)- the Slide and the Draw

Kandykane teaching dancing

The Slide is very similar to the Draw (AKA Drag).

A Drag is very common in Paso Doble or Tango dancing, we all know that dragging takes a slow count. A drag is no doubt a closing action, however, in the syllabus description, it can take 2-3 beats to finish.

On the other hand, the slide, by definition, can be quick or slow, in other words, although we usually make a slide a slow move, it can take just one beat. Another difference between a drag and a slide is that the former needs to be a closing action as mentioned above, a slide can be a moving step towards any direction indicated according to the dance sheet.
